We have a strong commitment to people development at Fairfax Meadow and it forms a big part of our identity. From training today’s butchery stars to sponsoring tomorrow’s FutureChefs , we feel that it is so important In securing the future of the industry across all levels.
When we were asked by AccorHotels to be involved with their Unveil Your Talent event, we jumped at the chance.
Unveil Your Talent is an annual competition for AccorHotels team members (not just chefs!) across the world, aimed at identifying talented individuals across the business and aiding their personal development by giving them an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from other countries and disciplines and demonstrate their innovation and creativity.
Entries were whittled down to just 50 finalists before they split into 5 teams ready to compete in the global grand final in London. Each team was assigned an AccorHotels Hotel and was tasked with creating a cocktail party for 70 guests at their designated hotel, complete with canapés in just a 36-hour period. This is where we stepped in!
Not only did we provide each team with a selection of our finest meat cuts including our Casterbridge West Country PGI Dry Aged Beef, we sent in development chef, Jo, to mentor and guide one of the teams through the final, from assisting with menu development to service, Jo provided the hands-on guidance to drive the team towards their vision for the themed-party.
It was a great experience for our Chef and all involved, even a few members of the FM team managed to wangle an invite to the cocktail party!
The initiative is a prime example of AccorHotels working to create a culture of outstanding customer service, essential to which is developing people with a passion for hospitality and service who have an innovative and entrepreneurial attitude, a willingness to collaborate and a commitment to delivering an outstanding guest experience. With food and beverage being a key growth area for the customer experience, Unveil Your Talent harnesses a focus on this hotel service with the attributes that it looks to develop and reward in its leaders at all levels across the business, from the CEO down to supervisors.
Congratulations to all involved – bring on next year!!!!
